Before reading about this challenge, please read the About page for this site, to understand what the purpose is.

The first hypnosis challenge we are going to cover on this site is using the book Instant Self-Hypnosis, by Forbes Robbins Blair.

Instant Self-Hypnosis is a “do it yourself” book of hypnosis. Purporting that with the proper practice, induction and self-improvement readings, you can literally sit down by yourself in a comfortable spot and “read” your way through a short hypnotic session.

Blair claims that within anywhere from 3 to 7 sessions, you should start realizing improvements in the area(s) that you have chosen to concentrate on in the book.

The way the book is structured is it starts with a few beginning chapters about hypnosis, what to expect, how it works and so on. I found the introduction very good actually, it manages the reader’s expectations well and doesn’t claim to be fairy dust or unicorn magic. It also does a good job debunking the more wonky side of public hypnosis and the shenanigans we tend to associate with hypnosis that makes anyone you tell laugh when you say you are trying it.

After the introduction the book has “scripts” for 30 or so common complaints people have: weight loss, stress, confidence, smoking, etc. You choose a script for something you want to get batter at (or stop) and then read the common induction at ever session and then your specific script.

For the purpose of this challenge, an in an attempt to realize the greatest gains, we have limited our selection to a single choice. For 30 days we will pick 1 script to read, and then read it every day and blog about our improvement.

Katie, Patrick and Riyad have agreed to this challenge. We will be blogging about our experiences as we go through the process on the site.

Comments, questions, feedback or opinions are all welcome and appreciated.
