Technically this is day 16.5 as I am covering two sleep cycles but because my days are so messed up with working overnight shifts I am going to just continue along with already established convention. So far my results with this self-hypnosis thing would read like an EKG if they were represented on a line graph. Certain aspects seem to be working with stunning consistency whereas others seem to fluctuate such as to appear completely random.
Yesterday was kind of a strange thing. I picked up my girlfriend from work at 8 am which is normal for Thursday as I have the day off. What was not normal was the fact that I was so tired from not having slept well the day before that I was seriously worried about surviving the drive home form work. So I slept for an hour before it was time to pick Summer up. We went to breakfast after that and wandered around Miss Tigglywinkle’s toy store looking at Ugly Dolls. We came home and I went back to bed where I used the sleep process and went out at around 84. I slept for about two hours until it was too warm in the house and I couldn’t sleep. My girlfriend is now sick and as such was having a hard time staying warm. I run very hot temp wise so it is impossible for me to sleep for any length of time if it is too hot so I got up and played Batman for several hours. I thought about going to get food and stopping by a bookstore but I was too sleepy to trust a drive in the car so I just kept trying to finish up all the Riddler Challenges so I can have 100% complete.
After I took her to work and a friend and I went to sushi, I came home and did my hypnosis script. The script was profoundly hard for me to get through this time as I was slurring my words and reading them incorrectly. I began yawning a lot and by the time I got to the end I was really out of it. It was just after midnight at this point so it may be that I was more hypnotized or it may be I was really tired or a combination of both. Either way, I went to bed to try to sleep at this point. I ran the process as I went to sleep and it took until 66 or so to go to sleep. I did not wake up again until the alarm went off at 7:30.
As ever I find it hard to come up with a verdict on this. I have fluctuating results as far as staying asleep is concerned. I am prepared to absolutely endorse sleep process in terms of getting me to sleep but as far as staying asleep, the results are far too erratic to say that the self-hypnosis is working. As far as the process goes, it is sort of a glorified version of counting sheep so I am not sure if the self-hypnosis works for this either. It would be interesting to see how it works without the hypnosis aspect of it. All of that being said, at least as far as yesterday is concerned, environmental factors contributed to my inability to sleep so I cannot really charge that to the self-hypnosis account. Certainly if there was someone outside jack hammering the street I wouldn’t feel like self-hypnosis had failed me. Still, even setting the temperature aside, the results so far have been spotty at the very least. I am hoping as we get into the home stretch that it starts to even out a bit more.
